I grew up in the busy, sunny streets of Casablanca, where the smell of fresh bread from the bakery mixed with the call to prayer ringing through the city. The streets were full of the happy voices of children playing, and the steady beat of a city full of life and tradition.

On Fridays, my father would follow the Sunnah of Jummah — taking a shower, wearing his beautiful jellaba, and heading to the mosque for the Friday prayer. It was more than a routine; it was a tradition passed down through generations, carried out with care and dignity, just as his own father had done before him.

And I remember how my grandmother carefully stored her wedding caftans for decades, tucked away like precious artifacts. One day, she passed them on to my mother — not just as garments, but as a treasure, a piece of our story, a heritage held from generation to generation.

Fashion wasn’t just what we wore — it was a reflection of values, a sense of belonging, and a quiet expression of pride.

A New Chapter: Moving to Calgary

When I moved to Calgary, I brought these memories with me.
